An engineering example combining a customisable button surface, Bluetooth HID electronics and mechanical guidance.
Simple to use. Carefully engineered.
The intended tactile response needs to remain consistent when pressing near the edge, while keeping the number of parts and assembly steps low. Bluetooth HID provides the connection; compatibility depends on the host device and application.
The housing is an interface too.
Prototype work revealed play around the soldered switch mounting. The design supports and centres it at the housing, which also requires matching PCB cut-outs. Button guidance and stabilisation, PCB changes, radio-module selection and embedded firmware are developed together, with manufacturing and unit costs considered from the outset.
